Two wood-fired saunas under the Three Sisters.
A cedar barrel to yourselves, a cold plunge off the deck, and registered massage therapists in the cabin next door.
The circuit
Heat, cold, rest. Then again.
The barrels run between 80 and 90 degrees on split birch we stack ourselves. Stay in until your shoulders drop, usually ten or twelve minutes.
Then the plunge: a steel stock tank kept at about four degrees and skimmed of ice every morning. Thirty seconds is plenty the first time.
Then a robe, a mug of tea by the fire pit, and back in when you are ready. Most people manage three rounds before their time is up.

Treatments
Massage, whisking, and the two together
The treatment cabin sits beside the deck, so the heat is a few steps away when you are done.

Massage, an hour or longer
Deep tissue or relaxation, in a pine-panelled room that looks onto the spruce. Tell us about the ski day, the trail run or the desk job and we will work from there. Sixty or ninety minutes.
$125 or $175

Birch whisking
An old Finnish and Baltic sauna ritual. Our attendant works bundles of fresh birch leaves over you in the heat, then a cool rinse and a long rest. Forty-five minutes, in a barrel on your own.
$110

The pairing
An hour of massage, then a private barrel for the circuit while your muscles are still warm. Bring a partner and we run both massages side by side.
$195 for one, $340 for two

From the fire pit
I came off a three-day ski trip barely able to turn my head. An hour with Noor, two rounds in the barrel, and I drove home to Calgary like a person again.

Massage and a shared session
Before you come
Bring a swimsuit. We have the rest.
A swimsuit
Swimsuits stay on in the barrels and on the deck. The change room is heated and has lockers.
Your own water bottle
There are jugs by the fire, but your own bottle is easier to keep track of between rounds.
Something warm for after
A toque and dry socks make the walk back to the car far nicer in January.
Your phone, left in the locker
The heat is hard on it. Ask and we will take a photo of your group on the deck.
A word with your doctor first
If you are pregnant or have a heart condition, check with your doctor before you book the heat.
Questions
What people ask at the desk
No. Swimsuits in the barrels and on the deck, every session.
That is the best time to come. The deck is shovelled, the path is sanded and the barrels hold their heat. We only close for a power cut or a closed highway.
Massage comes with a registered massage therapist's receipt that most extended health plans accept. Sauna sessions and whisking do not.
Sixteen for shared sessions. Younger guests are welcome in a private barrel with a parent.
Free parking beside the change room. In a snowfall, park nose-in so the plough can get past.
Book the last barrel of the night.
Evening sessions run until nine, with the saunas lit against the dark. Weekends fill about two weeks out.
