Animal hospital in Prince George since 1996
Vets for working dogs, barn cats and yours.
A full animal hospital where the Fraser meets the Nechako. Exams, surgery and dentistry under one roof, and a separate waiting room so the cats never sit beside the dogs.

After-hours emergency? Call and press 1. A vet on call answers every night of the year.

Surgery day
Drop off in the dark, home by supper
No breakfast after midnight. Water is fine until you leave the house.
Before eight
Drop-off
A technologist takes a weight, goes over the consent form with you and answers the last questions.
Morning
Bloodwork and pain plan
Bloodwork runs in our own lab, pain relief goes in before the anaesthetic, and every patient gets an IV line.
Midday
Surgery and recovery
One vet operates while a registered technologist watches nothing but the monitor. We call you once they are awake.
After four
Home
Pick-up with a written plan and the medications, then a check-in call from us the next morning.
The team
Four people you will get to know
Every patient has a regular vet, so the one who sees the limp in March is the one who saw the puppy in June.

Dr. Anneke Visser
Founder, internal medicine

Dr. Owen Petrie
Working dogs and sports medicine

Dr. Leah Morin
Surgeon, soft tissue and orthopaedics

Kaylee Dumont, RVT
Head technologist, anaesthesia
We run a team of fourteen dogs out past Salmon Valley. Dr. Petrie came to the dog yard in February to look at a sore wrist, and he knew what a sled dog's winter looks like without being told.
Marnie
Salmon Valley, sled dogs
Our barn cats had never seen the inside of a carrier. The clinic got all six done in one morning, and nobody lectured us about how long we had waited.
Rob and Lise
Shelley, barn cats
