Flower shop · Fredericton, NB

Grown up the river, not flown in.

A small flower shop downtown, stocked from our own river lot at Keswick Ridge. Carry out a bunch, send one across the city, or plan your wedding flowers with us.

Order by 2 p.m. and your flowers go out the same day, Tuesday to Saturday.

The river lot

Most of what we sell was in the ground yesterday.

Our field is a long, narrow lot running down to the Saint John River, laid out the way the old farms along the valley were. Dahlias, cosmos, zinnias, snapdragons, sunflowers and about forty other things grow on it.

Stems are cut before the heat of the day, rest overnight in cool water in the shop cooler, and go into bouquets the next morning. That night in the cooler is why our flowers last on your table.

From November to April the field is asleep, so we buy from greenhouse growers in Nova Scotia and Ontario, and the tag on every bunch says where it came from.

Order flowers
I ordered at one o'clock for my mother's birthday in Oromocto and she had them by four. A week later she sent me a photo, and they still looked like the day they came.

Questions

Before you order

Anywhere in Fredericton for $12. Oromocto, New Maryland, Hanwell and Keswick Ridge for $18.

We call before we substitute. The colour and the feel are a promise; a particular stem in a particular week is not, because the field decides.

About a week with fresh water every other day. If a bouquet droops within three days, send us a photo and we will replace it.

No. Arrangements are built on chicken wire, moss and pin frogs, which go back in the drawer instead of the landfill.

Yes. Order ahead and your flowers wait in the cooler until closing time.

Order

Send flowers, or collect them

Tell us who they are for and when. We call to confirm the colours and take payment by phone. For the same day, calling is quickest.
